Eligibility Criteria/Admission Requirement for GNM Course
GNM programme is meant to prepare general nurses who can efficiently perform as members of the health team and capable of dealing with the competencies in both the hospitals and other such organizations.
Nursing is a noble profession. It is a promising area offering diverse job opportunities to male and female aspirants. Nursing is an integral part of the healthcare sector. Nurses play an important role in the smooth functioning of various healthcare setups.
- The candidates should have completed 17 years of age as on 31st December of the year in which admission is sought.
- The candidates must have passed 10+2 with English and must have obtained a minimum of 40% at the qualifying examination and English individually for any recognized board.
- The candidates are also eligible from state open school recognized by State Government and National Institute of Open School (NIOS) recognized by Central Government. However, science is preferable.
- The candidates passed 10+2 with English having 40% of marks in Vocational ANM Course.
- The minimum of 35% of marks for SC/ST candidates who have passed 10+2 with English.
- The candidates passed 10+2 with English having 40% of marks in vocational stream- Health care sciences from a recognized CBSE Board/ State/ Centre.
- The candidates registered ANM with 10+2 pass.
- Candidates shall be medically fit for the course.
- Both female/ male candidates are eligible to apply.
Demand for GNM Nurses
The conditions are not pleasing at present. Because the ratio of patients and nurses is not good at all. Therefore, the higher authorities of different countries are also contributing towards promoting such nursing courses. This scarcity of nurses is leading to increase in the number of nursing colleges. Different government councils are encouraging the career in this field. Consequently, the demand for GNM nurses is increasing.
